Charleston was seriously a blast! So much so that I want to share with you a quick travel post with the highlights of the town. {more on Charleston here} It’s full of American historical significance, Southern charm everywhere you lay eyes upon {voted America’s top city in 2015}, cobblestone roads and brick lanes, seaport views, and even a few great beaches. The city is WAY FUN to explore by foot, so put your walking shoes on! When you walk and wander around, you find the greatest of places! Little gems, for sure. If you have any Charleston favorites, please let me know! We want to go back! 🙂
Favorite Coffee Shop: RISE COFFEE BAR: They have yummy pastries and delicious coffee. I am trying not to drink coffee while pregnant, but sometimes it’s good to treat yourself…their decaf almond milk latte was divine! It’s right off King Street {the main road} and has a great vibe right when you walk through the front door.
Gelato, Drink, and More: CARMELLA’S: We stumbled across this one…they have tons of fresh flowers on the table, so naturally I was drawn inside…haha. We nibbled on their amazing and homemade gelato. They serve many other items there like lunch, fun drinks, and dessert…next time, we will have to try.
Hotel: We stayed at the RENAISSANCE CHARLESTON: The perfect location and the staff was beyond kind and welcoming. You can self-park right across the street, making it very convenient, for a small fee. Southerners definitely know how to make you feel warm and welcome!
Shops: You can literally shop till you drop there! Some of my favorites were Anthropologie, Lilly Pulitzer, J.McLaughlin {where I picked up this adorable summer bag that’s made an appearance in my Instagram feed}, and J.Crew. Our favorite children’s store was Sugar Snap Pea, owned by one of my sorority sisters…seriously the cutest decor and adorable clothes and fun toys. Everly picked out her pink purse there and hasn’t taken it off much since getting it! 🙂 There are a lot of small boutique home shops as well, which we are saving for another trip! Definitely didn’t want Everly to break anything…lol. All of the shops, mainly, are located on King Street.
Horse Drawn Carriages: CLASSIC CARRIAGES: Their horses are GORGEOUS and the tour was very well-done. More on it here! Couldn’t more highly recommend them! Dakota was our gorgeous horse. 🙂
Restaurants: SO MANY OF THEM: In the past five years Charleston has become quite a foodie place. We ate at Indaco {Italian}, Magnolias {best Southern food}, and ordered room service for another night! So many more options. You do need reservations though…there were a few restaurants that we really wanted to try but they book up at least one month in advance. Next time! 🙂
Sullivan’s Island: STATION 26: We spent our actual anniversary on the beach, just hanging out and relaxing! The beach is one our favorite places so it couldn’t have been more perfect! Parking was very easy near the station 26 marker, but I am sure on holiday weekends, it may not always be that way.
